Overview
In short, a Byronic Hero featuring elf ears (AKA "the elevator pitch")

Harmonious and diplomatic, Daithi (DA-hee) strives to know all in his vicinity as at least warm acquaintances. Frequently, though, this is all he manages.

Daithi is aloof — secretive in his thoughts — and prone to imagining boundaries and very good reasons to never cross said boundaries. Often, the reason is some manner of "appropriate."

Groomed for leadership since an early age, and ever poised to assume the position, Daithi views himself outside of others: a tool for the people. He serves the greater good, always, never given to be indulgent, and must prepare for whatever means necessary to do so.

Daithi is therefore calculating and ruthless: the sort of hero that is genuine, yes, but politicks his own sincerity, capable of great harm in the name of the people and (perhaps unsurprisingly) capable of deep arrogance and even deeper self hatred once the dust settles.

He thinks far too much for it, sometimes in even the most innocuous of circumstances, and broods when sharing such thoughts would better serve either party.

Despite this, Daithi can be rather charming and even flirtatious. His jokes aren't always the best — he prefers gallows humor but opts for whatever might set others at ease — yet delivers the jest with a crooked, little smile and so much confidence that one easily forgets (or at least forgives) he can be a little strange.

Impressions
Base character information: age, appearance, and similar

AGE 27 (29 - 30 as of Trespasser's DLC)
SEX Male
SPECIES Thedosian elf of Dalish ethnic origin
SEXUALITY Bisexual, romantic preference for men

EYES Pale blue, reflective in the dark
HAIR Blond, shoulder blade length
HEIGHT 5'4" (162CM)
BUILD Slender, muscular, slightly sinewy

SCENT Elfroot, thyme, something resembling sandalwood and myrrh. Leather. Citrus, rum, or similar if he has been gutting fish. Ozone after magic use.

STYLE Varies. Daithi's character is one of assimilation (and power). Left to his devices, Daithi wears his hair in a tangled mess and prefers armor to robes. If he is the Inquisitor, he wears his hair ornate and alternates between a dress uniform and a lord's armor, pending the occasion, and includes shoes.

If he the Inquisitor's companion, his hair is less ornate, although kempt, and he wears armor more human than Dalish; he foregoes shoes. (Depending on the Inquisitor, and the result of particular events, however, Daithi may assimilate further as though he were Inquisitor.) Weapons are always great accessories.

VOICE Give it a listen HERE, and enjoy DAI's awkward ass rigging. Note that as Daithi is Dalish, this accent is an affect of assimilation, and his natural accent resembles one of generalised Irish. Characters are welcome to call attention to this fact or any possible strain.

DEMEANOR Cool albeit approachable and nonthreatening. He smiles easily once in conversation and maintains a respectable distance from others.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES Branch like TATTOOS in an orange brown hue, which overtake his facial features. Need I mention the ears?

Synopsis
An overview of the Dragon Age franchise for the unfamiliar

Set in the world of Thedas, Dragon Age is a medieval fantasy (would could have guessed...) reminiscent of Western Europe. So reminiscent, in fact, the Thedosian way of life is largely dictated by a Catholic like religious entity known as the Chantry.

The Chantry abhors magic — its corruption, having caused the Maker to abandon his children — and sequesters mages, born into their power, in the Circle of Magi. There, they may learn to control their magic without endangering others. In a medieval fantasy, it seems a charmed life, providing comfort and education — but these circles are closely guarded by Templars, the Chantry's swords and shields, and their watch frequently subjects abuse upon their charges.

— a matter so explosive that, in time, many mages revolt, leaving the Circle, and the Templars, their posts to pursue the fight. Said fighting spills across most, if not all, of Thedas, forcing the Divine (the Chantric equivalent of the pope) to attempt to mediate peace between the two parties.

Unfortunately...

She dies in an explosion, which claims the lives of many mage and Templar leadership as well, and a lone survivor emerges from the ether, seemingly saved by Andraste, the Maker's mortal and martyred bride.

Soon, this survivor is hailed Andraste's herald, assuming command of the Inquisition (the Divine's alternative in the event of summit failure), and becomes geopolitical player in Thedas's rather complicated politics.

While this is the role Daithi assumes, it isn't always relevant or necessary in crosscanon. Generic threads featuring fairy tale or D&D like quests work easily, and Thedas is home to dwarves, dragons, giants, and undead.

(...and elves, of course, although Thedosian elves are atypical than most, struggling against political disenfranchisement and marginalization. The Chantry believes elves inferior to humans, the dominant race of Thedas, and "knife ear" is a common slur that often prefaces violence.

Such violence has long since driven elves from their homeland, the Dales, forcing many into slums and a few to wander the wilds, preserving their culture as much as able. Daithi is of the latter, a fact unavoidable for the VALLASLIN he wears.

Which is precisely how the Dalish prefer it. Never again shall they submit.)

Dáithí Lavellan

Biography

Daithi is from clan Lavellan, a group of Dalish who migrate around the perpetually feuding Free Marches. [...] Daithi's Keeper sent him to spy on the Conclave at Haven as the outcome might determine the fate of his own clan.

After the explosion that killed the Divine, Daithi was the only survivor at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Rumors that the mysterious mark on his hand is a sign of the Maker's favor were spread by those who claim they saw the divine prophet, Andraste herself, lead Lavellan out of the Fade.
